Report on Your
Website's 5 Most
Important Pages
Completed Promptly
Information You Can Use
What You Get
An easy to follow detailed report of the accessibility of your website to people and search engines. If you don't show up on the first two pages of a list when someone searches for your service, more than half of them will never find your website. Your "home" or "landing" page is the single most important marketing tool for every
business in today's economy — including horse businesses.

What does it cost you each month to have a website for your horse business?
When was the last time you had it professionally critiqued?
When was the last time you analyzed the traffic (visitors) it receives?
Do you have to buy Google ads to drive visitors to your your website?
Wouldn't you rather have more "organic" visits that do not cost advertising dollars so you could buy more targeted placement for your Google ads?
People and web search engines use different features of your web page to find you. When a person types a word or phrase into a search box, your page should show up in the first 2 pages of results. If it doesn't, 62% of your target audience will not find you.
So it is not enough for your website to be attractive and up-to-date with information that makes people want to follow through. There must be features that help the search engines find and list you. There must be completely different features that help the humans find and click on your site on a list the search engine displays. How your
website shows up also matters. The page that appears on the list may be one of your secondary or deeper pages, not your "home" or "landing" page that you worked so hard to get "just right." This is so important that some large companies have full-time employees who stay on top of the features of every page to make sure they are "search engine optimized", and others who make sure
they are "customer care user friendly." Then they pay a "search optimization firm" to submit their site and monitor its ranking and usage. While few horse businesses or organizations can expend such vast resources, we don't know any that can afford to do nothing. If you have a website that is not "web ready", no matter how pretty it is, is a waste of time and money
— you might as well not have one at all.
More than fifty percent (50%) of the websites for
breeders, trainers, boarding stables, horse rescues, tack shops, and feed
stores we check are nicely designed with quality graphics.
These same attractive websites are not receiving any traffic.
Among them, 25% paid to have their site submitted to "all the search engines," but are not listed on those engines one year later. If your business is local,
today 70-85% of your prospective customers will look online before they look in
the Yellow Pages or the state monthly Horse Newspaper.
Will they find you on page one or two? Find out.
For a nominal fee we will promptly review your horse
business website and give easy to do suggestions for immediate improvement. We
check
coding for errors, check for missing features, and search engine compatibility,
and give you the results. A web maintenance firm can fix these problems easily
as part of your monthly service. If you do not have a maintenance firm, we
can fix these problems for a small fee. Or if you
have web page editing software, and are comfortable updating your files
online, you can do it yourself. We can even train you how to do it while you watch us, using over the internet PC to PC communication!

We check your page ranking on 5 major search engines, using key words your
potential customers would use to try to find your service. You get a
report of how your page ranks. If your page does not appear in the first 10
pages (100 sites listed), we let you know. Your goal is to appear in
the first two pages.
We review what
appears in your page listing when it is found by a major search engine.
We often find that it is not your "home" page that appears, but some other
page from your site. You get a report. This can happen because
of problems with your "home" or main page. It can happen because the
word people used to find your site appears more prominently on the secondary
page than on the main page. It can happen because the secondary page
is more feature-rich. We give a brief analysis.
We check your pages
for these features, which affect both the ability of the search engine to
find you, and your ranking:
Page Title - each
page should have a distinct title that appears in the user's browser title
bar. If it says "Page Title", "Blank", or the same title as some other page
it was copied from, this hurts.
Document Type - a
statement embedded at the beginning of the page declaring the markup
language used to create the document, and the rules it obeys. This
helps the browsers understand how to display your page to users, and helps
search engines read it to classify it. You do not have to have this
statement, but it helps the page load faster with fewer errors. We let you know if you have the statement,
and what it says.
Actual Markup -
regardless of what document type you declare in point 2, if you have mixed
markup (XHTML, HTML 4.0 strict, HTML 4.1 transitional, etc.) on a single
page, the programs trying to read it will take errors. Search engines
do not like this any more than users do. A website that has been
modified by different people using different programs over time can very
easily have mixed markup, as well as partial code left over to be removed.
We give you a detailed list of any of these problems.
Document Description
- this is a brief one or two sentence statement about the content on the
page, or on your main page, a description of your business. It is in code in the beginning of each of your
pages, or it is missing. It appears in search engine listings instead
of just the first words on the page, if you provide it. Every page on
your site should have a description specific to that page. It is not
good to have a general description of your business on your home page copied
for the page about training, the page about boarding, or the page about summer
camp. This costs you ranking almost as much as having no description
does. Without a description it is very difficult for search engines to
classify your page. Actual human editors review these descriptions for
the major engines. Automated programs also work on keeping them
up-to-date. We report our findings about your pages. This feature is
more important today to your ranking than the embedded key words.
Document Keywords -
this is an embedded list of words and phrases in the code at the beginning
of your document. Each page should have a unique set of key words. The
page about your lesson program has different key words than your boarding
program, though some are shared. Without keywords you may as well not
have a site. Selecting the right key words that real people use to
find your services is the art form. Also, you need to be sure these
words also appear somewhere in the actual visual page. You cannot
cheat and repeat the same words over and over to get a high rank - that can
get your page tossed to the bottom of the heap. If you copied a page to make
a new one, don't be surprised if you forgot to change the key words - most
people do! We give a report on the keywords for your pages.
Bonus: If we
find multiple H1 tags, extensive javascript (scripting for actions on the
website) that belongs in external files, headlines displayed as images,
keywords displayed as images, no alternative text for images, no file
on the site to tell search engine robots not to catalog backup files and
private files, broken links to other pages or sites or graphics, we will let you know.
Once we have run
the analysis on the first five pages of your English language site, you get our report. We send it by email to the email
address you give us when you order the review. You are able
to pay via PayPal to place your order.
"If you don’t have
the technical expertise to do these activities, then you need to sign up
for SEO training and/or outsource to a consultant to fill in your gaps of
knowledge. Bear in mind that one or two training courses probably won’t be
enough for you to start doing code reviews if you have never programmed,
or to review tech specs if you aren’t technical. Fortunately, decent SEOs
can be found at $300-$700/hour. It is rare to find a great one at the
lower price-point, but they are out there, and many of these activities
won’t take more than a couple of hours for a seasoned expert." -
